In addition to the intensive academic course, and cultural and social program, thirty six students of European Summer Institute 2005 had the exceptional opportunity to enjoy the guest lecture given by a prominent scholar and an expert in lobbying EU issues, Dr. David Coen. Dr. Coen posseses a rigorous knowledge of EU lobbying and is also an excellent speaker. He is a lecturer in Public Policy and Director of the MSc in Public Policy in the School of Public Policy at University College London. Prior to joining UCL, he held appointments at the London Business School (1997-2001) and a fellowship at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne (1996-1997). His PhD. on business lobbying in the EU was awarded a distinction in Political Science at the European University Institute in Florence in 1996. Dr. Coen was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, Boston University, Nuffield College Oxford University, and Max Planck Institute, Bonn and visiting lecturer at Warwick University.
